Competency Based Assessment – Case Studies in Science

Competency Based Assessment – Case Studies in Science for Classes IX and X was organised in school on 19th and 20th December,2025 which aimed at strengthening teachers’ understanding of assessment aligned with the National Education Policy and CBSE guidelines.

The session was conducted by esteemed resource persons Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma and Ms. Shalini Chaudhary, who brought rich academic insight and practical classroom experience to the programme.

During the CBP, teachers were guided on:

• The concept and importance of competency-based assessment in Science.
• Designing and analysing case-study–based questions for Classes IX and framing questions that assess critical thinking, application, and problem-solving skills

The resource persons shared examples, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities that enabled teachers to confidently create competency-based questions and assessments. The session also encouraged reflection on current assessment practices and explored ways to move beyond rote learning.
